Obituary

Virginia was born August 4, 1945 in Corpus Christi to Clifford and Louise (Lightfoot) Oden. After graduating with honors from Garland Bible College in 1966 and marrying the love of her life, John Collier, Virginia spent her years forming a family, teaching hundreds of students and bringing joy and beauty into her world. As mother to two children, Virginia devoted many years and much energy and prayers to the children she loved and who love her. Virginia was always drawn to those who were hurting, believing that God’s love moved toward all of us.

Virginia was preceded in death by her father and brother, James Oden.

Survivors include husband of 48 years, John W. Collier of Waco; son, Winn Collier and wife Miska of Charlottesville, VA; daughter, Vonda Morga and husband Jason of Davisburg, MI; grandsons, Wyatt and Seth Collier; granddaughters, Kylie and Brynlie Morga; mother, Louise Oden of Waco; brothers, Mike Oden and wife Connie of Garland, and John Oden and wife Leslie of Groesbeck; special niece, Myra Munsch; and numerous family members and friends.

Matt Nething

Mr. Nething was born in Great Bend, Kansas on May 29, 1959. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Martin Nething and Margaret Jean Pierce Nething; brother, Martin Nething; sister, Julie Mauler.  Mr. Nething attended Great Bend High School, the University of Kansas, and Bob Jones University. In 1982 he married Melody Eberhard.  After graduating with a degree in chemistry from KU, Matt worked on a military project at the Center for Biomedical Research at the University of Kansas. In 1988, he completed a degree in Science Education at BJU and went on to teach at Parkview Christian Academy in Waco, TX for seven years. In 1995, Matt began teaching at Bible Baptist Christian School in Hampton, GA where he served faithfully until two weeks ago, even if he had to teach from his wheelchair. Matt will be remembered for his scientific brilliance and corny jokes, but mostly for the love he had for his Lord, his family, his students, and his KU Jayhawks. He will be greatly missed.
 
Survivors include his wife, Melody Nething; children, Sarah Nething, Ruth Tessier, Will Nething, Anna Nething, Ian Nething, Karl Nething, Bethany Nething, Zach Nething, Merrielle Nething, Delany Nething; grandchildren, Jamie Tessier, J.J. Tessier, Jeremiah Tessier, Jordyn Tessier, Khioni Williams; brothers, Tom Nething and Larry Nething; several nieces and nephews.

William “Billy” Pikett, 39, of Irving, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015.

Billy was born July 11, 1975 in Longview to William H. and Sandra S. (Goloyugo) Pikett. The family moved to Waco in 1984. Billy graduated from Parkview Christian Academy in 1993 and from Texas A&M in 1999. He worked for several DFW construction companies as a structural engineer and later as a forensic engineer. Billy enjoyed motorcycling and the Smoky Mountains. He adored his family.
 
Survivors include wife, Leslie Pikett; son, Christian Chandler Pikett; daughter, Victoria “Brook” Pikett; parents, Sandra and William Pikett; sister, Melissa V. Woodruff and husband Justin; brother, Jonathan D. Pikett and wife Angela; grandparents, William H. and Vivian Pikett; and numerous other relatives and friends
